Xitlaly Pardo, senior at Morton East High School. is leading her way to a career in the arts by taking art and AP classes. With a GPA of 3.4, during her four years of high school, Xitlaly has been working hard, getting good grades, and has been involved in school activities to help her get into the career she most desires.
Her passion for art is unbelievable. She is a great artist and has different ways of seeing things. She took a couple of AP classes to challenge herself a little.
"I've taken AP English and AP Art Studio, and I think they're good choices for me because I really enjoy art. It's something I'm interested in for my future," Xitlaly said.
In her free time instead of going out with friends, she stays home to study or does something related to school.
"I've tried to study at least once a day after school or I've stayed in different activities and they just help me out when I need it," she said. " My parents keep me motivated. They always encourage me to be more successful than them and to become someone in life," Pardo said.
Her main goal is to graduate this year and to "make my parents proud and to have a successful career".
Xitlaly has been in five different clubs throughout the year. She stays after school almost every day and decided to take zero hour gym just so she can have an extra class.
"I'm taking zero hour because I wanted to. No one forced me or anything, it was my very own decision," she explained.
She talked about the challeges and benefits of being so many different clubs.
"I'm part of the National Honor Society, Class of 2018, adventure club, ecology club, theater and I plan to join a sport this year either badminton or softball. NHS helps me with being part of the community and helping out. I've been part of Earth Day and in ecology club; I've been part of the forest cleanup," Xitlaly explains.
As the good student that she is, Xitlaly is loved by one her teachers, Mrs. Judge. She has helped Mrs. Judge very much.
"Xitlaly is an excellent student. She is the type of person who doesn't mind helping people out. I love how she offers to help," Mrs. Judge said. "She would come upstairs during supervision to help decorate for the club. She didn't have to do that, but she decided to".
