Scherezada Buenrostro, also known as Sherry or Sher, is a senior at Morton East High School. Buenrostro is taking multiple AP classes and has been taking Mandarin as an elective for all four years since she was in high school. She was also a member of the school’s badminton team from her freshman year to junior year. Buenrostro's positive attitude is incredibly infectious, and she never fails to put a smile on people’s faces.

Buenrostro has many accomplishments to be proud of. Her most recent accomplishment was getting into one of her dream schools, Loyola University. She says she plans to go into the medical field.

"As of right now, my plans for life after high school are to go to college and hopefully become a doctor," Buenrostro said, "I think I want to be a pediatrician, but I’ll figure it out as I go."

Although she is immensely proud of herself for all that she has accomplished, Buenrostro still tends to be a bit hard on herself. When asked about what advice she would give to her younger self, Buenrostro said that she would tell herself not to be so self-critical.

"If I could tell my younger self anything, I would say go easy on yourself because I am a bit of a try-hard when it comes to school. Still try your best, just relax a little bit," Buenrostro stated.

Her biggest role model in life is her dad. "He is the most intelligent man I know," Buenrostro said. She said that a piece of advice that stuck with her was to believe in herself.

Buenrostro is big on keeping her body healthy and in shape. Going to the gym and lifting weights is one of Buenrostro’s favorite hobbies. She spends a lot of her time at the gym perfecting her form when lifting so that she doesn’t injure herself.

"Taking CrossFit at school has definitely helped me perfect my form when lifting heavy weights," Buenrostro said.

Her music taste is all over the place; one moment she can be listening to RnB and then she switches to reggaeton in the next few minutes. With her taste in music constantly changing, it is hard for Buenrostro to choose a favorite artist.

"Right now, it’s honestly between Bad Bunny and Kali Uchis," Buenrostro said.

People in Buenrostro's life have nothing but positive things to say about her. She radiates positive energy that uplifts everyone around her and makes it impossible for someone to not get along with her.

"Sherry is definitely one of the most caring people I have ever met. She has been there to see every version of me and is my biggest support system," Melanie Carrera, a senior at Morton East and close friend of Buenrostro, said. "Her charismatic character brings positive vibes to everyone she hangs around," Carrera continued.

"She is very well rounded, very smart too," Mrs. Cabrerra, a science teacher at Morton East, said of Buenrostro.

Buenrostro's ambitious attitude and positive outlook on life are sure to get her far in life. There is no doubt that she will do amazingly in a career field such as the medical field. Her years at Morton East have helped shape her to become the ambitious and hardworking mustang that she is and will continue to be.
