Morton 201 Foundation Fundraiser for Hamilton

For the second time, students from J. Sterling Morton High School District 201 have been selected to participate in the Gilder-Lehrman Hamilton Education Program this spring. The program provides educational materials and resources to US History teachers to use in their classroom with all Junior-level students. In addition to learning about the American Revolution and the establishment of our country’s government, students learn about the life and contributions of Alexander Hamilton. Students then create songs, skits, and raps addressing themes associated with the American Revolution and Hamilton’s life. Upon completing the projects students are given discounted tickets to see Hamilton: An American Musical at the CBIS Theater in Chicago on May 15, 2019.

The ticket price is subsidized by Gilder-Lehrman but there is still a cost of $10 per ticket, payable by the students. This year our district was allocated 90 tickets for students to see the show.

The Morton 201 Foundation has offered to help raise the $900 needed to cover the students cost to attend the show.

To make an online donation, go to

Under “What cause would you like to donate to?”

    Select “Other” and specify: HAMILTON

    All donations are tax deductible.

The first time Morton participated in this program, a rap submitted by two Morton East students was selected and performed live on stage in front of the Hamilton cast and all other participating schools. Click on the link below to see the winning performance.

Please help us to raise the $900 that we need so that our students can experience this great opportunity.

Thank you in advance for your generous support.
