Constitution of the Intramural Club
Preamble: The students of J. Sterling Morton High School do hereby establish the Morton Intramural Club and ordain this constitution with the following objectives in mind:
The purpose of the Intramural Club is to provide an opportunity for every student at Morton East to participate in some type of competitive or leisure sports activity as regularly as his/her interest, ability, and time will permit. The rules and regulations which have been formulated for the activities in this club take into consideration the necessary preparation, for each activity as well as the degree of skill of each participant.
Objectives:
(a) To provide wholesome and healthy activities for recreation and relaxation from strenuous school work and provide a safe environment for students
(b) To provide equipment, facilities and encourage wholesome participation in a large number of sports activities by students
(c) To provide an opportunity to learn the important values developed through team spirit and cooperation.
(d) To provide an opportunity to make social contacts and friendships which could not readily be developed in the classroom.
(e) To provide the opportunity for every student regardless of his/her ability to realize the joy and fun of participation in their favorite sport.
ARTICLE I. MEMBERSHIP
Section 1: Application for membership into the Intramural Club is open to
all students, both male and female.
Section 2: Any participant may be dismissed from Intramural Club if he/she does not comply with school rules or safety guidelines.
ARTICLE II. OFFICERS
Section 1: The Intramural Club will be comprised of a very diverse and ever changing membership. Participants will not always be the same and will change based on activities offered during specific days/weeks/or months. A student who shows an interest in a particular activity and would like a role, will be assigned to be in charge of that activity, and assist the sponsor with various tasks. That student will assist with sign ins, tournaments, handing out and collecting of equipment, and recruitment of new participants. During each activity a new member will be selected as president of that activity.
ARTICLE III POWERS OF THE EXECUTIVE BOARD
Section 1: The club sponsor will select the specific dates based on student interest and availability of facilities.
ARTICLE IV USE OF FINANCES
Section 1: Any money collected by the Intramural Club must be handled in accordance with the Student Council and school rules.
Section 2: The Intramural Club may spend money with the membership and advisor’s approval only for the following purposes;
a. To cover the normal expenses of the Intramural Club. ( Equipment, shirts, facility usage, and other supplies necessary )
b. To promote the Objectives of the Intramural Club.
c. All other projects (expenses) should be approved by the administration and club committees
