Bilingual Club Constitution

Constitution of the BILINGUAL CLUB
Preamble: The students of J. Sterling Morton High School do hereby establish the Bilingual Club and ordain this constitution with the following objectives in mind:
· To seek networking relationships among students, especially English Language Learners (ELL students).
· To learn about all aspects of American culture, from school to work, as it pertains to immigrants.
· To foster a culture of academic achievement and health among students.
· To maintain our language heritage as we embrace the heritage of other cultures.
ARTICLE I. MEMBERSHIP
Section 1: Application for membership into the Bilingual Club is open to
all interested students.
Section 2: Any member may be dismissed from the Bilingual Club because of misconduct, failure to meet his responsibilities to the club, or for being absent from more than 10 meetings and/or activities. An acceptable excuse must be furnished to the secretary for an absence.
Section 3: A member may be expelled from this club by a vote of the two-thirds majority of the club.
ARTICLE II. OFFICERS
Section 1: The Bilingual Club shall have the following officers:
(1) President, who shall be responsible for
a. Presiding over all meetings;
b. Heading all standing and special committees;
(2) Vice-President, who shall be responsible for
a. All that the President is responsible for when the President is absent or unable to take part in the activities.
b. Take attendance at all meetings;
(3) Secretary, who shall be responsible for
a. Any correspondence determined necessary to maintain adequate communication with the membership, school administration, Student Council, or any other agency.
b. Recording the minutes of all regular and/or committee meetings.
c. To furnish a copy of the SEMESTER REPORT to CLUB COMMITTEE.
(4) Treasurer, who shall be responsible for
a. Collecting, depositing, and accounting of all the BILINGUAL CLUB FUNDS;
b. Presenting a financial report at all regular meetings;
c. Submitting all invoices to the membership and to advisor for their approval before payment;
d. Recording all financial business in the record book distributed by the CLUB COMMITTEE.
Section 2: The above officers shall compose the Executive Board.
Section 3: Each officer shall maintain his duties to the fullest extent in accordance with the rules of the Student Council and the rules of the school.
Section 4: Election Day of officers shall be within the first 30days of each fall semester.
Section 5: Qualification of officers: Officers are expected to give a Power Presentation and be Bilingual.
Section 6: Procedure of voting. Voting shall be done by all students present during meeting.
Section 7: All officers shall assume the duties of their respective offices when so designated by the organization. Officers shall be present for a preparatory meeting every Tuesday.
Section 8: The term of office shall be one year.
