Dr. Erin Kelly

I am the proud Principal of Morton Alternative School. I have varied experience as a teacher and school leader in the Morton High School District; English teacher, Dean of Students, Summer School Principal, Student Activities Coordinator, and I served as an Assistant Principal at both Morton East and West. My passion is developing positive authentic relationships, working with students as they grow, and supporting teachers and staff so that they can reach their greatest potential.

I believe in fostering a positive school culture through the implementation of Restorative Justice practices and I have been committed to promoting teamwork, collaboration, and a sense of community at the Alternative School.

My doctoral work in Educational Leadership at National Louis University involved filming a documentary on the Latinx Experience in High School and gave me great insight into my students’ experiences. It is an honor to serve the Cicero community.

Michelle Lewis-Kapp

I am very excited to join Morton Alternative School this year as Dean of Students.  I am most passionate about working with at-risk students in alternative school settings.  I set high expectations for students while supporting them as they learn and grow. I believe in utilizing restorative practices to help resolve conflicts and help students to learn to make better choices. Students and colleagues describe me as firm, fair, and consistent, while promoting team work and striving to always form positive connections and relationships with others.

I have been in education for approximately 12 years, working in a variety of capacities.  I began my teaching career in Chicago teaching science and acting as Lead Teacher and Department Co-Chairperson.  I then moved onto District U-46 where I taught at the alternative high school for 2 years.  I also taught 1 year of middle school science before transitioning into administration.  This is my 5th year in administration, serving as Academic Advisor in Joliet, and most recently, Dean of Students in Wheaton.
